The Clay Castle - the guesthouse

When you want to do things differently

(or how to build a world unlike any other)

This story didn’t begin with a plan. It began with a quiet thought and an unspoken question. We found a corner of the world — or perhaps it found us — and from there, everything unfolded like a serious kind of play.
We dreamed of a living space: ecological, close to nature, and touched by a gentle kind of fantasy. What we didn’t know is that we were about to become apprentices of time and craft.

Raising the clay walls? That was the easy part — almost a joke.
The real journey began after that. The plasters spoke. The pigments demanded understanding. The lime had moods of its own.
Like in any realm with its own rules, we learned to listen — to the walls, to the wood, to the light.
We tested. We failed. We tried again.
We learned as we went, and when there was no one left to teach us, we boarded a plane to learn from those who still remember how earth breathes.

As far as we know, we are the only ecological accommodation of this kind in Europe.
We say this not with pride, but with the quiet confidence of every nail placed with care.
What sets us apart is not the shape, but the soul: rigorous material selection, forgotten techniques revived, and a building process unlike any other.
We didn’t mimic the past — we brought it forward, reimagined.

The building was shaped like a being.
Finishes are mineral-based — lime mixed with pine oil, earth plasters pigmented with natural minerals.
The wood flooring emits no harmful compounds. The materials breathe.
Nothing dazzles, yet everything glows softly.

And the objects? We didn’t find them. We made them.
We sketched furniture, carved wood, forged iron in the courtyard under sunlight and hammer.
Beds, tables, light fixtures — all created especially for this place, with care for the hands that would one day touch them.
And yes, there is even a coffee cup with a fairy wing as a handle.
Because here, details aren’t ornaments — they’re storytellers.

Each room tells a different story. But they all have something in common: the bed.
And with it, the art of sleep.
That’s how the sleep menu was born — a kind of customizable charm.
You choose between a European topper (firm and balanced) and an American topper (soft, cloud-like).
The mattresses are handcrafted, made with natural materials, and layered with wool, which adapts to your temperature and holds you gently through the night.

The bedding is linen.
The pillows — soft or medium, your choice.
The duvets — filled with sheep wool.
All tested, selected, sent back, re-tested — until we felt they belonged to this story.

We dreamed of a different kind of hotel.

We built an entire world.
A place where every detail awaits to be discovered.
Where craftsmanship breathes through every texture.
Where the past transforms into a living present.
Where the story isn’t told — it’s lived.
And if you know how to listen… everything here might just answer you.
